I've owned probably ten Mopar vehicles. Cuple diesels, a couple 440 Ramchargers, a hemi Cuda, w200 and 2 Powwr Wagons. Some of the older Dodges has some electrical issues. Diesels ran great pulled anything, 5 speed trans sux. Had some fords good trucks for an every day driver. Got 4 Chevys in the stable right now 1 on 38.5's 1 on 44's and 2 on 36's. Good capable off road trucks. As with any of the IFS front ends.....swap them out if you plan to wheel them. At the very least get a Dana 60 front.

I haven't heard anything bad about the dodges in the late 90s? It dosn't matter what if you have Dodge/chevy/Ford trannys are tranny they are bound to brake... unless you spend the money $$$$$ I love my dodge and wouldn't trade it for the world. I drag race/seld pull and its my everyday driver.I also spent the money to upgrade my tranny and stuff. If I were you I would go for a newer Dodge because there are a lot more options as far as if you want to tow or go and more :)  You need to check out this web site and maybe call

older Dodges do tend to have tranny problems...both auto and stick. The frames are def built more durable than chevy tho'......I am 100% chevy lover......are you planning on using truck for off-road or pulling??If you are lookng for a good mud truck I recommend later chevy models like late 80s early 90s
